Discipleship Getaway

For the Easter Weekend Tathiana and I took a long weekend trip with our discipleship groups and some others that we have led in the past on a getaway to have some time together and to study some foundational truths about the gospel. 

The weekend went well. It was a time of hanging out and Bible study about our FORGIVENESS, LOVE, ACCEPTANCE and CONTINUOS TRANSFORMATION through the gospel of God's grace in Christ. We always try to find quality time like this as we seek to establish these young Christians and equip the older ones to know how to lead others in their relationship with Christ.

Please pray that each of us will be motivated by these 4 truths to help others who need the same forgiveness, love, acceptance and transformation!

We're Expecting...

An update on April Fools day, but its for real! We found out this week that Tathiana is 8 weeks pregnant! We wanted to begin our family soon, even this year. Apparently God wanted that, too.

We are happy and a bit stunned as we think about the upcoming changes. So many students have made their excitemente known. I guess when you wait 5 years people start getting anxious for some news. 

Please pray for Tathiana and the baby's health.

Our annual Summer Project was a bit different this year, in both structure and content. We started our project in Belo Horizonte in the evening so that hose who were working could participate more than just the final weekend. This year we invited graduates to join us because we knew content would be great for everyone. The content was fruit of the 2011 Campus Outreach National Conference (CONC) held in Chattanooga.

Our team took the videos from 4 different speakers at the CONC and worked on translation and subtitles for our Projeto de Férias (PDF). Each speaker is from a partner church that hosts a Campus Outreach "franchise". You can see the videos at this link: http://vimeo.com/album/1852780

Cost of Living in Brazil

In my almost 10 years in Belo Horizonte, Brazil I have seen the exchange rate compared to the US Dollar oscillate from almost 4:1 in 2003 to a 10-year record low of 1.53:1 just a few months ago. When I moved here in I shared a large 4-bedroom apartment that initially cost around $250 US Dollars per month total – not per person. I currently live in a 3-bedroom apartment for almost $1000 US Dollars per month.
